Role – Quality Planner

Location – Carlow, Ireland

Type – start asap until end of April 2017



The Role:

The Quality Planner will manage daily lab planning activities ensuring we meet customer commit dates and also be responsible for longer term forecast analysis and review with the Labs to identify and mitigate possible capacity / material issues through utilisation of rough cut capacity. Will work with moderate work direction and be skilled and knowledgeable about the position.



Responsible for all aspects of production scheduling and Direct material procurement to support customer requirements, while managing inventory/capacity constraints utilising SAP tools and providing input into the site capacity planning model. Ensure that objectives are effectively achieved.

 

Principal Accountabilities:



- Management of all transaction procurement and sales order processing of Direct Materials for the site to ensure continuous supply of materials, components and miscellaneous supplies, using and supporting continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste in the supply, logistics, production and planning processes.

- Establish and maintain best practice planning and execution systems and methodologies, using Lean Six Sigma principles, whilst supporting the site usage of SAP and be an active participant in the Global SAP PPDS Community of Practice

- Manage the forecast and sales demand planning by direct liaison and interaction with the central planning hubs and via the sales and operations planning processes.  Consistently update systems and forums, based on demand changes and complete work order assignments against the forecast, to identify special requirements prior to release and/or manufacturing.

- Create, update and maintain inventory and production plans for the site. Ensure any changes, and the rationale for those changes, are communicated to customers and stakeholder for agreement. Ensure contingency plans are in place to support unplanned adjustments to schedules or changes in demand, to facilitate early impact assessment of planned and unplanned changes. Monitor inventory levels and values.

- Ensure that all transactional procurement operations performed are in compliance with the required ethics, standards, policies and procedures and completed within relevant Grants of Authority.

- Manage sales order processing and execution to promised customer ships dates in partnership with the Warehouse team.

- Manage interactions between suppliers and accounts payable to resolve any issues or difficulties involved in the procurement of goods and services for which this position is responsible.  Act as site contact for external issues with the Site Global Procurement Representatives.

- Format, write, deliver and review documentation in line with the standard approval process, and facilitate others to do so. Documents will include SOP’s, SWI’s, training materials, change controls.

- Required   to   comply   with   Merck   Global   Policies,   Procedures   and   Guidelines,   regulatory requirements and execute current Good manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in the performance of day to day activities and all applicable job functions.



Skills and Experience:



- Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred; ideally in a related Business, Science, Engineering or other Technical discipline

- Relevant experience and a particular skill in a manufacturing setting, preferably GMP setting

- Demonstrated ability to fully realise improvement initiatives. Demonstrated successes in a team environment, such as project teams, Six Sigma team, PITs etc.

- SAP/APO knowledge and experience a must

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and job related computer applications required

- Knowledge of  regulatory/code requirements to Irish, European and International Codes,

- Standards and Practices

- Report, standards, policy writing skills required

- Lean Six Sigma Methodology experience desired
