Graduate Finance Analyst/Settlements Analyst: Energy Trading/Derivatives

World Leading Global Energy Trading Company has an exciting opportunity for a Trade Accountant: Endur/SAP: Energy Trading/Oil & Gas to join the Derivatives and Settlements Accounting team within a World Leading Oil and Gas company.

About the Role:

The principle responsibilities as Trading US Trade Accountant in a team of two include:

  • Support the Senior Trade Accountant in managing the company's risk based controls in line with the company's control framework
  • Act as deputy for the Senior Trade Accountant in dealing with internal and external queries
  • Manage an active working relationship with the UK based Exchange Traded Derivatives team and the Chennai and Houston based central finance and business functions
  • Work closely with a number of project teams and support the Senior Trade Accountant in the successful implementation of top-quartile infrastructure projects, specifically, Blueprint and GSAP
  • Support the Senior Trade Accountant in adopting processes for new business to ensure that it is implemented in a timely manner with robust controls.
  • Ensure that the company's internal control framework is adhered to
  • Close liaison with other derivatives support teams and Financial Reporting Group based in different locations.
  • Ensure trading systems are reconciled to SAP accounting system
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are correctly reconciled
  • Ensure books are closed to timetable
  • Ensure that the group implements and operates the most efficient set of finance systems and processes leveraging global standardisation
  • Ensure all services delivered adhere to all compliance, legal and other obligations
  • Ensure a successful implementation of a number of top-quartile infrastructure projects by working closely with largely Houston based project teams.

About You:

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Degree
  • Part Qualified CIMA, ACA or ACCA desirable

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Knowledge of derivatives markets and instruments
  • Strong technical accounting abilities
  • Broad understanding of energy markets
  • Sound understanding of financial processes, practices and applications
  • Strong IT skills (in particular Excel & SAP)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Customer and delivery focused
  • Experience in performing financial period-end close
  • Project experience

This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
