Infrastructure Project Manager - Banking - £400-£475 per day - 6 months - London

My client, a leading financial services organisation, are looking for a Project Manager to join their IT Operations team as they deliver and maintain solutions to support a growing business around the globe. You will be a member of a team responsible for the delivery of infrastructure and business lead projects to the Global banking and Markets organisation. This will please you between two important units - as such you will act as an interface between the business and ITO organisation during project delivery. You will be responsible for undertaking a review of the current campus and initiate programs to better utilise the estate. Previous experience of working in banking is absolutely essential and candidates without such experience will not be considered for this post.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Managing strategic and flagship IT infrastructure projects
  • Define the Scope of IT infrastructure projects
  • Manage assigned IT infrastructure projects
  • Manage Global project delivery from initiation to completion.
  • Take responsibility for all global requirements related to a specific business driven initiative.
  • Act as an interface between Infrastructure, Asset Classes and the ITO organisations.
  • Leverage best practice to ensure infrastructure project delivery is strategic and within corporate standards and where necessary drive any standard changes.
  • Actively promote IS opportunities at client and Senior level
  • Support the organisations Infrastructure Group strategic initiatives eg Server and Storage Consolidation and Rationalisation Programme, Data centre migrations and Legacy Evergreening
  • Liaise with the Regional Infrastructure teams to ensure a streamlined service offering to the Asset classes.
  • Provide a comprehensive view of Asset class technology at a portfolio level.
  • Ensure Asset Classes are informed of the Global Infrastructure and hosting opportunities available to them and arbitrate hosting decisions based on organisations Global Hosting Strategy.
  • Manage the Server Demise process for the Asset Class Development Teams.
  • Ensure project support and sponsorship
  • Undertake a risk analysis and complete due diligence activities.
  • Undertake a full Cost and Benefits analysis for each initiative
  • Create Project Plan identifying the critical path and key resources for all individual programmes of activity.
  • Ensure compliance with ITO Technology Roadmap is adhered to at all times.
  • Actively partner with Relationship Management team, Asset class owners and Development heads to ensure that initiatives are communicated and delivered in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure Global collaboration with other related activities and utilise tools, experience gained from other regions

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of working in a banking environment and on IT projects is essential
  • Good understanding of the project life cycle and a variety of project methodologies
  • Good understanding of Risk Based Project Management (RBPM) frameworks, methodologies and best practice techniques.
  • Good understanding of Business Transformation Framework (BTF).
  • Extensive project management skills and experience of managing large and complex projects
  • Strong people manager and broad experience in managing large teams of different work streams
  • Some examples of the delivery of on time and on budget projects that achieve business case stated outcomes - a driver with bias towards delivery at pace and controlling project outcomes
  • Good stakeholder management experience, especially impactful communication, influencing and running project governance implementation, change management and benefits realisation
  • Significant, in-depth development and infrastructure experience (all disciplines and platforms)
  • Experience of IT in a trading room environment
  • Troubleshooting ability to diagnose potential issues impacting programme and offer resolution.
  • In depth knowledge of Development environment and good all round infrastructure knowledge.
