Senior Safety Engineer

A Senior Safety Engineer is required to work on a twelve month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Cumbria

Overview of the Senior Safety Engineer contract role

You will be required to develop High Integrity arguments for items whose Structural Failure impact Watertight Integrity (WTI), gather and analyse evidence required to support High Integrity arguments for WTI Structures as well as Report and write up the High Integrity Safety Cases for WTI items, which put forward an argument support by a body of evidence that the their associated failure rates will support an ALARP Discrete and Aggregated Risk.

Key skills required for the Senior Safety Engineer

  • An Engineering Degree which incorporates Materials and Structures or equivalent.

Safety engineering experience incorporating the following;

  • A good understanding of Structural Failure Mechanisms.
  • A good understanding Structural Loading Analysis.
  • A good understanding of Materials and Material Properties.
  • An awareness of Computational Structural Analysis techniques eg Finite Element Analysis.
  • A good understanding of Hazard and Risk Assessment.
  • An understanding of Probabilistic Safety Analysis including Fault Tree Analysis and Event Tree Analysis using toolset such as Reliability Workbench (Fault Tree+).
  • Effective communication and persuasion skills.
  • Experience of constructing High Integrity arguments in relation to structural items.
  • Skilled in the use of standard Microsoft packages and specialist packages as required.
  • Good analytical, organisational and co-ordination skills.

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District
