Harris Global are currently recruiting for a Storage Backup Engineer for a massive transformation and change project in the North East
The successful candidate will join a highly skilled team of BARD Support technicians providing technical Infrastructure support to Central and Regional UK Government users. The role will require a flexible working ethic and a pragmatic approach to IT Support, they will have second/third line support background, and have good customer service and communication skills. The BARD Technician will schedule, monitor and resolve technical issues relating to backups on the customer Servers, completing restores of files or disks where requested
Description of Role
- Hosting/Desktop - Provide a comprehensive support function for Backup and Restore solutions and implementations, providing a full range of ITIL service delivery skills, eg Incident and Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration and Release Management.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis where appropriate, propose and implement long-term fixes.
- Perform and arrange preventative maintenance to ensure service levels are maintained and improve.
- BARD software life cycle - monitor product EOLs, define product roadmap, test and implement software releases.
- BARD Hardware life cycle - monitor product EOLs, define product roadmap, raise business case for upgrades, implement replacement hardware and manage BARD migrations alongside other supported teams affected.
Education and Experience Required
- Operating knowledge in an IT related field or equivalent work experience.
- May hold entry-level or intermediate-level certification(s) in work field.
- Typically 2-5 years of relevant experience

Backup Software
- Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) - must have minimum 3 years current experience
- Data Protector
- Symantec NetBackup
