WiFi SME Engineer Analyst

Philadelphia, PA

WiFi and Wireless experience - prefer candidate with experience with core and edge technologies. Emphasis on data/log analysis.

Expert-level understanding of standards, protocols and concepts that are used within an 802.11a/g/b/n network.

  • Experience surveying, designing, deploying and managing Wireless Networks including Routers, Switches, access points, and other network related hardware.
  • 10 years+ experience in a high performing service focused NOC environment supporting city wide and national WiFi operation and engineering
  • 5 years+ experience with WiFi ISP and WiFi engineering/operations from the core to the edge technology.
  • Designs, develops, implements, maintains, and enhances telecommunication networks, systems and equipment
  • Analyzes existing networks, equipment and processes and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Develops solutions that meet business requirements
  • Understanding of the holistic network/systems/service environment/operations, how services flow across the environment from an end to end perspective and service dependencies.
  • Self Initiative with demonstrated ability to proactively identify and drive issues through closure including diagnostics, routine peripheral fixes, independent action, communication, and engagement of fix agencies.
  • Ability to leverage applicable tools and troubleshooting skills and train engineers within Comcast.
  • Analyze chronic network related problems to isolate root cause with and without predefined tools and recommend and implement approved solutions both to vendors and users.
  • Provide review and input to new technical requirements. Identify opportunities and drive necessary enhancements into the products/platforms to improve the production environment and to stabilize technology.
  • Participate directly in testing on an as-needed basis to prepare for system upgrades and perform troubleshooting.
  • Ability to participate with initial new product/service deployments coordinating with senior engineers initially then independently drive future activities.
  • Lead routine maintenance activities from identification/detection through fix/closure. Execute detailed test plans confirming service states pre and post deployment.
  • Oversee Remedy Ticket queues to ensure accurate queue assignments, ticket compliance, proper follow through, and escalations. As well as CM's, SM and SOP authoring and SoW for work to be performed.
  • Mentor, lead, assist, and instruct junior members, CARE/NCAR, XOC, CNOC personnel to ensure timely and effective fault detection, outage correlation, ticketing and notifications for all network detected outages.
  • Strong written/verbal communications skills - clear, concise, accurate communications during outage conditions articulating impact, steps being taken to restore, updates, etc. Active participant and contributor to conference bridges.
