Mechanical Engineer - 6 months - Cambridge - Negotiable hourly rate
A leading Energy and Utilities client of Pontoon is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join their site in Cambridge as part of their commitment to maintaining their assets across the UK.
Role:
Member of a small team of technicians based at Compressor Stations who are responsible for the operation and maintenance of their base compressor station plus supporting activities at other compressor stations and also transmission pipelines. In order that consistently high levels of plant availability can be assured a standby rota is in place. The compressor technician will have a core discipline but is expected to work as part of a multi-disciplined team. Technicians will be expected to undertake all aspects of installation, commissioning, operation, repair and maintenance within their respective discipline.
Experience:
- Time served apprenticeship/experience in core skill discipline
- 5 years post apprenticeship/qualification experience in core skill discipline.
- Knowledge of gas turbine driven machinery
Qualifications:
- BTEC National Certificate or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) minimum
- Appropriate understanding of company standards and instructions.
- Approximately 3-5 years relevant experience.
- Assessed as competent against STC framework, with detailed understanding of Safe Control of Operations documentation.
- Current valid UK driving license.
