Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer to join their team in Blyth on a 6 months temporary contract.

Purpose of the role:

Site Engineering to supervise, monitor and control civil engineering construction works and contractors for the foundations and construction of the proposed substation in Blyth, Northumberland.

Main duties/responsibilities will include:

  • Site setting out
  • Conducting concrete pre pour checks
  • Maintain accurate site diaries for use by commercial team
  • Working with site teams including subcontractors
  • Co-ordinate short term civils resource requirements with Subcontractor
  • Attend weekly and contractor site meetings
  • Community engagement initiatives in project
  • Review task specific RAMs
  • Assist with Construction Phase SEHQ Plan
  • Report incidents/near misses
  • Carry out periodic inspection
  • Ensure quality checks are maintained and reviewed
  • Ensure construction materials supplied are correct for use
  • Submit required notifications
  • Ensure contemporary records are kept
  • Update project registers, drawings etc.
  • Ensure the personal safety, safety of other personnel under your authority and members of the public
  • Deliver allocated work in line with budget and programme
  • Ensure that all works are carried out in line with BBUS procedures as described on the business management system and any other procedures that are appropriate to the works
  • Report all accidents, dangerous, occurrences and near miss incidents on the company statutory forms and in line with any customers requirements
  • Maintain good relationships and set a personal example when visiting locations, client's councils and public
  • Ensure that any team member working under your direction have the appropriate training and qualification for the works to be executed
  • Carry out Risk and COSHH Assessments, Method Statements, Safety and Quality inspections
  • Ensure N.R.S.W.A. regulations are implemented correctly

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Civil engineering experience of setting out for reinforced concrete structures
  • CSCS relevant qualification
  • Strong Communication Skills with contractors and client
  • Working Knowledge of MS Office Suit including, Word, Excel, Project, Outlook and other IT applications .
  • Working Knowledge of current Health & Safety Legislation
  • Hold a relevant health and Safety qualification
  • Temporary works co-ordination and the ability to act as a TWC
  • Good knowledge of Business Assurance Systems, Quality, Environmental and Safety
  • Technical Expertise relevant to scope of activity
  • Be able to demonstrate previous project/site management experience
  • Familiar with CDM regulations and other appropriate safety regulations
  • Previous experience of being able to deliver projects/faults to contract programmes

Pay rate is negotiable depending on experience.
