Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to work within Central Government on a contract basis. This position is based in Bristol initially until February 2017 offering up to £525 per day Ltd.

Main Duties:

Mode 5 IFF Project Engineer

Within the Air Platform Systems team, the Identification Branch (IDENT) is the focal point for procuring and integrating Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Radar Equipment. The Mode 5 IFF is a complex project that will deliver the next generation, secure and interoperable IFF system to a large number of diverse platform types in all three domains of the armed forces. A competition is underway to select a prime contractor to fulfil the requirement for not only supply of equipment, but also project management, integration and support activities required to deliver a fully installed and supported IFF capability. The post holder will be responsible for the following activities:
Project engineering management, including: planning, monitoring and control; the preparation of Business Cases and Investment Appraisals; risk management activities. Management of the Mode 5 Subject Matter Expert (SME) contracts.

Essential Experience:

Assist with Technical Scrutiny of Systems Engineering and Maritime Equipment Integration documentation, delivered as part of the project Assessment Phase contract. Assit with negotiating out technical issues in order to achieve prime contract award.
Management of Maritime Platform Stakeholders in accordance with the Stakeholder Management Strategy.
Management of the Mode 5 Single Prime Contractor to achieve value for money and ensure delivery within agreed performance, cost and time boundaries.
Provision of accurate and timely reporting for Mode 5 Monthly Reviews and Project Data Review Pack.
Engagement with Defence Lines Of Development to ensure project dependencies, enablers, constraints and risks are properly identified and managed.
Deputise for APS-IDENT1 as required. The post holder is required to be self motivating and able to work independently with little direct oversight and only referring upward where necessary. It is essential that the post holder can demonstrate: excellence in planning and co-ordinating a portfolio of tasks and a proven track record in successful projects.

Project engineering management experience in a related military discipline and experience of Maritime equipment integration is essential. Knowledge of IFF Systems in an Air/Maritime/Land domain is desirable.
