Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contract Manager to work within Central Government on a contracts basis. This position is based in Bristol, initially until June 2017 offering up to £435 per day Ltd.

Main Duties:

Manage key aspects of contracts with service providers to provide contract assurance, drive improvements in service delivery and value for money whilst minimising financial risk through the implementation of appropriate commercial governance arrangements in all contracts managed by the Division.

- Coordinate the management of contract compensation events, managing complex compensation events and overseeing and advising colleagues managing simpler compensation events to ensure compensation events are dealt with in accordance with contractual and corporate requirements.

- Manage and contribute to the resolution of contractual disputes and other contractual issues, seeking advice from technical, commercial, financial and procurement colleagues making reasoned and substantiated recommendations and decisions.

- Provide ad-hoc contractual advice to colleagues and contribute to Directorate initiatives.

- Settle contract final accounts in accordance with contractual requirements, seeking advice from central audit, commercial, financial and procurement colleagues when needed.

- Manage financial aspects of contract change and provide substantiated financial forecasts Secondary tasks (quality and performance management):

- Lead Service Quality Reviews and other audits, assessing contract delivery risks to compile agreed programmes of audits and deliver these programmes to ensure compliance with service providers H&S, commercial and scheme management quality management processes, identifying and managing corrective actions and identifying improvements to processes and practices.

Essential Experience:

Commercial skills with the ability to engage effectively with professional, technical and other service delivery partners at all levels with technical understanding

Experience of undertaking quality and performance audits.

Experience of effectively using contract performance measurement and quality management processes.

Good influencing skills, being able to maximise delivery and best value from the supply chain.

Ability to deliver at pace, monitoring own and teams work against milestones and targets to track performance.

Ability to gather and use evidence to assess the costs, benefits and risks when making commercial decisions.

Knowledge of NEC contracts.
