Category Manager/Analyst (Pharma, procurement, purchasing)

We are currently looking for a Procurement Category Manager/Analyst support. He/she will be part of the R&D procurement global organization and his/her responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: conducting competitive bidding, negotiating and executing contracts, partnering with key customers to address team support, providing procurement insights to meet business needs, and maintaining knowledge of the category in order to handle efficient and compliant assigned contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for management of the relations with high-spend suppliers within the Clinical Research Organizations space and high-complexity compound projects
  • These activities may include: RFP activities, contract negotiations, vendor management, budget management, budget reconciliations, etc.
  • You will work with project teams through the bidding and vendor selection processes, as well as negotiate and execute service agreements with varying complexity
  • You will implement and administer standard procurement policies and processes for multiple departments/geographic areas, client groups, and/or functional projects
  • You will interface with various R&D procurement functional and therapeutic area team members, as well as with peers in the procurement action center
  • You must be a strong presence and will also interface with many levels and functions within the organization such as centers of excellence, finance, legal and other category leads across R&D procurement and the global procurement function.

Required Profile

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in life sciences or business is required. An advanced degree is preferred (MS, MBA, PhD, JD, etc.)
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology or Medical Device/Diagnostics industry and/or at a clinical trial External Service Provider (ie, CRO, Central Lab, ECG, IVRS) in pharmaceutical research is required
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience implementing and negotiating service provider contracts
  • Understanding of drug development process, as well as experience in financial and legal language
  • Sourcing experience supporting clinical trials and the RFP process working knowledge is required
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical R&D processes, GLPs, GMPs and/or GCPs is desirable
  • Ability to deal with all organization levels, have excellent communication and presentation.

Skills

  • Work effectively in a matrixed environment while supporting specific teams and/or projects
  • Propose effective cost/customer service alternatives and be able to prioritize requests
  • Fluency in English (required) and other languages a plus
