Senior Desktop Support Engineer - West London - Windows, Exchange, AD, Windows Server

Square One are looking for a Senior Desktop Support Engineer to come on board for a 6 month contract based in West London.

You will provide a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance within the organisation's desktop computing environment. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all PC hardware and equipment to ensure optimal Workstation performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

To work under the direction of the Service Desk Manager to ensure that the systems available meet the requirements of the organisations learners, staff and relevant stakeholders and its funding bodies and regulators.
To provide reports and analysis for the Service Desk Manager as required.
To liaise with the IT Managers and discuss system requirements and development, as appropriate.
Perform onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of desktop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including removal of equipment for repair as needed.
Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software in order to deliver required desktop service levels.
Assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to PCs, including the installation of CPUs, NIC cards, hard drives, RAM, CD-ROMs, and so on.
Receive and respond to incoming calls, and/or e-mails regarding desktop problems escalated when 1st line support is not able to resolve an incident.
Escalate incidents that become problems to 3rd Line Support (ServiceDesk Manager)
Ensure calls taken over the phone or in person are logged via the Servicedesk system.
Provide support and guidance to the Helpdesk Administrator and coordinating Desktop Technicians movements.
Ensure that physical desktop connections (ie RJ-45 Ethernet jacks, RJ-11 telephone modem jacks, connectors between PCs and Servers, etc.) are in proper working order.
Prepare tests and applications for monitoring desktop performance, then provide performance statistics and reports.
Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations.
Maintain an inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, network cards, and other components and equipment as required
Accurately document instances of desktop equipment or component failure, repair, installation, and removal.

Knowledge & Experience

Good knowledge of Active Directory administration, including adding users, configuring PCs and groups.
Understanding of domains, DNS, DHCP and general networking terminology.
Good knowledge of group policy management
A good understanding of a Wintel Environment
To be responsible for any escalation to other support teams and third party vendors
Excellent personal organisation including time management
Excellent interpersonal, communication and reporting skills
Maintain and oversee installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of end users, Workstation hardware, software and peripheral devices, as well as manage calls logged at the Servicedesk ensuring timely resolution in accordance with the agreed SLA's.
A good knowledge of Windows 7 Professional, 8.1, Office 365, Office 2010 & 2013
The following knowledge & experience would be advantageous
A knowledge of mobile devices such as Tablets & Phones (iOS & Android) including setting up, configuring and applying restrictions.
Experience of ManageEngine products
Knowledge of VOIP Phones
Good knowledge of Windows Server 2008 R2/2012 R2 and Microsoft Exchange 2010

This is a 6 month contract based in West London looking to start immediately.
