Key accountabilities for the role
- To provide commercial expertise to contract management both directly to contracts managed by the Commercial Directorate as well as support colleagues to manage contracts more effectively
- To support the contract management framework, the role holder shall be required to produce processes, documents and tools to enable contract management to be Embedded. These processes, tools and documents will need to be transferable to Arm's Length Bodies (ALBs) and the wider health family
- To ensure the Contracts Register is kept up to date following negotiations, contract reviews and amendments
- To manage key tiered contracts either directly or indirectly within the Department and ALBs. This will involve: risk and issue management; contract review; performance; business continuity; supplier management and escalation of issues;
- To support the Contracts Managers and Strategic Contract Managers in providing a commercial and procurement service to the Department and the wider health family
- To support a development plan to improve contract management skills across the Department and the wider health family
- Liaison across other government departments and Crown Commercial Services regarding contract management best practice
Qualifications
Candidates must have at least one of the below essential criteria:
- qualified purchasing professional (MCIPS)
- member of, or studying for membership of, the International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM)
- relevant degree, such as in law or finance, MBA
- related industry experience
