Network infrastructure engineer

One of my leading financial services clients in Amsterdam is urgently seeking a Network infrastructure engineer for a long-term contract paying excellent rates. If you like it, you will never have to leave.

The Network infrastructure engineer will IDEALLY HAVE AT LEAST 65% of the following skills:

  • Broad understanding of network technologies
  • Technology of interfacing squads and consumers to achieve end-to-end view
  • Impact of different factors on performance and capacity of services
  • Technical implications of Security and Risk principles
  • Clear understanding of consumer context and needs, as well as the value-add of your service to the consumer
  • Expertise in multiple coding/Scripting languages and automation tooling
  • Experience with virtualization environments and tools eg, VMware, vRO, ESXi
  • Certification and/or proven knowledge of programming languages JavaScript and PowerShell
  • Certification and/or proven knowledge of reporting tooling
  • Certification and/or proven knowledge of VMware
  • Understanding of the Scrum methodology (eg backlog and spring planning, review and marketplace)
  • Knowledge of Lean practices (eg, waste identification, visual management)

The Network infrastructure engineer will perform the following responsibilities:

  • Deliver and maintain monitoring for (virtual) infrastructure service
  • Develop consumable, standardized Infrastructure Services.
  • Create and automate daily reports together with the other squad members
  • Implement mandatory security standards
  • Develop an ecosystem of tools to provide self-service capabilities to the consumer
  • Apply continuous delivery practices
  • Write fully automated reporting and alerting function
  • Build, enhance and maintain tooling and scripts to automate repetitive or error prone tasks
  • Apply and improve DevOps way of working
  • Implement user stories from backlog as agreed with the Product Owner, without spending time on work outside the backlog
  • Participate rigorously in DevOps rituals (eg daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint review, retrospective, peer reviews)
  • Continuously improve yourself, your squad and the service
  • Collaborate within and across squads to understand your services end-to-end
