Oracle Database Administrator & Architect

An exciting long term contract position to join the Engineering Support System team in Warton. Ground Support Service requires a senior Oracle Database Administrator & Architect (DBA) to provide database expertise to the Engineering Support System (ESS) Technical Support Team. The ESS provides the Customer with a capability for interfacing with the end product, recording maintenance work & analysing downloaded data and is built around an Oracle database back-end.

Candidates Must hold a British Passport to be eligible for SC Clearance.

The work requires significant skill and experience with the full range of Oracle products, and will require a good understanding of the ESS Database Design concepts & implementation. The ESS Database is hosted within a Microsoft Windows environment and specific experience is required in SQL, PL/SQL, RMAN, OEM, Perl, Powershell and TKProf. Additionally experience using Goldengate, Hotsos profiler, TOAD and analysis of raw trace files would be a distinct advantage.

The successful candidate will work within the ESS Technical Support team providing expert guidance and assistance in supporting and maintaining the database aspects of the ESS including addressing all support queries, performance monitoring activities and migration activities. The role is based at Warton, although travel to Customer sites at any Global location (occasionally at short notice) should be expected. Good communication is critically important, as are problem solving skills and flexibility.

Working time is standard office hours, although shift cover, late night and weekend working may be required, especially during customer migration activities.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following;

Key responsibilities include:-
To carry out all ESS Database Support Queries, this may result in activities at Customer sites.
To carry out preventative maintenance activities, this may result in activities at Customer sites.
To carry out performance monitoring of the ESS Databases
To participate in the review of ESS Database Design activities related to database usage, database migrations and upgrades.
To participate in ESS Installations, database migrations and post-migration support at Customer sites when required.
