Unix Engineer | Dublin | 12 Months | UNIX, Solaris, Linux
Square One are Looking for an experienced UNIX engineer based out of Dublin for a 12 Month contract with one of our major clients.
1. Solaris and ITIL V3 (F) Certified Preferred.
2. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, service oriented, ability to work under pressure
3. Ability to perform both technical and a coordination role in troubleshooting, planning, implementation and managing UNIX environment.
4. Must have experience in clustering and virtualization
5. Ability to utilize available resources for maximizing application availability, server reliability and resource utilization, such as configuring load balancing, server clustering, fault tolerant configurations,patching, virtualization with VMware, LPAR/vPAR/DLPAR, Etherchannel RAID
6. Remote administration & troubleshooting using different consoles
7. Knowledge of different interfaces and troubleshooting.
8. Experience in system designing and server performance tuning
9. Perform periodic audits of system security settings
10. Install and upgrade of Linux/UNIX operating system with security patches and agent software
11. File system management, user management, package management
12. Diagnose and resolve hardware/software problems/issues
13. Create scripts to automate system administration task, Shell Scripting.
14. Develop server maintenance plans. Execute server patching, OS upgrades
15. Vendor co-ordination on critical issues.
16. Flexibility (for 24X7 support - On call escalation if required
17. To ensure successful initiation, planning, execution, control and completion of the project by guiding team members on technical aspects, conducting reviews of technical documents and artefacts. Lead project development, production support and maintenance activities. Fill and ensure timesheets are completed, as is the invoicing process, on or before the deadline.
18. Lead the customer interface for the project on an everyday basis, proactively addressing any issues before they are escalated.
19. Create functional and technical specification documents. Track open tickets/incidents in queue and allocate tickets to resources and ensure that the tickets are closed within the deadlines. Ensure analysts adhere to SLA's/KPI's/OLA's.
20. Ensure that all in the delivery team, including self, are constantly thinking of ways to do things faster, better or in a more economic manner.
21. Lead and ensure project is in compliance with Software Quality Processes and within timelines.
22. Review functional and technical specification documents.
23. Promote team work, motivate, mentor and develop subordinates.
24. Provide application production support as per process/RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed) Matrix.
