Mechanical Technician

3 Month Contract

£17.50 p/h

Holyhead - RAF Valley

Babcock invites applications for Mechanical Technicians to be part of the Hawk IOS contract at RAF Valley

The Contract is responsible for the provision of First and Second line support for the Hawk aircraft

The successful candidates will report to the Majors Mods Senior Supervisor and will be part of the team supporting the Majors Mods Programme at RAF Valley.

The position requires the individual to have good trade knowledge preferably with fast jet experience at first and second line and a good knowledge of the Hawk airframe systems.

The ideal candidate will have the following competencies and experience.

Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade B2T within the Company.
  • Ideally should possess 2 years working knowledge and experience of military fast jet armed operations.
  • Knowledge of Quality, Safety and Environmental management systems.
  • Knowledge of RAF engineering policy documentation and organization.

Skills

  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Hawk aircraft systems and components.
  • Should possess sound fault finding skills
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of trade based maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of aircraft documentation and trade based Aircraft Publications.

Competencies

  • Able to achieve task objectives and deadlines
  • Enthusiastic disciplined team player
  • Flexible and motivated and able to work on own initiative when required.

Contractors will need to present all qualifications at interview - they will not be interviewed without so please ensure you have viewed copies and they are able to provide them.

Contingent workers coming onto the Hawk Contracts

Minimum requirement:

  • Current Human Factors Certification, valid for 2 years
  • For Avionics Techs EWIS 1&2, valid for 1 year (EWIS is wiring husbandry)
  • For Mech Techs EWIS 3, 4,&5, valid for 1 year
  • Proof of Aerospace Engineering qualification in the relevant discipline, and assimilation into dual skill, ie AV/Elect, Prop/AF
  • Proof of experience and currency on aircraft
  • All workers must hold a current Human Factors Certification (valid for 2 years) and relevant EWIS Certification that must be brought with them to interview and on their first day.
    BPSS will need to be completed in addition to the other forms at offer stage, and passed in order to confirm start date.

All of the above proof is required to be presented at interview, and is to be presented to the Quality Department on first day of employment.
