Description

The Role's Critical Responsibilities:
This major function of position is to maintain and monitor all operational components necessary to
keep the systems running, with an emphasis on Servers (eg, Windows, VMWare, AD, Linux) and
enterprise storage on VSan, VxRail appliances, but will include networking and VoIP phone systems
support. The greatest percentage of work time is typically spent on server and storage management
and configuration, but network configuration and trouble-shooting will also play an important role. Critical to the individual's successful execution of the job's responsibilities will be the ability to serve in a multi-function role, adapting as necessary.

Success will be measured by the individual's ability to:

Compose and maintain internal documentation so it is relevant and up to date.
Support a global set of manufacturing and administrative users.
Work with a global team of infrastructure, user support and application development personnel.
Provide problem resolution of reported infrastructure issues reported via IT team members,
automated notifications, and IT Request system in compliance with applicable SLA (Service Level
Agreement). Consult with senior analysts as required.
Work in a team environment to design and deploy optimized, highly available virtual server
environments.
In addition, VOIP, QOS, and other network related functionality will serve as some portion of the
candidate's secondary responsibilities.
Seventy-five percent (75%) of job is dealing with operational issues and 25% of the job is executing
projects. Over the next two (2) years, the successful candidate is expected to help the group stabilize,
automate, monitor and change that ratio to 60-40%. And a strong verbal and written command of the English language

Education, Training, Experience, and Skills, plus Travel Requirements:
Bachelors degree in computer science or related discipline.
Minimum of 3-5 years of Information Systems experience with a focus on infrastructure and operations.
Substantial server administration and troubleshooting experience at the enterprise level (OS, hypervisor and tools configuration and troubleshooting).
Some experience in network management, administration and troubleshooting at the enterprise level (eg, switch/Router/Proxy/Firewall configuration and troubleshooting), or demonstrated ability to quickly learn new skills.
Experience in medium-to-large enterprises and its associated networking, server, security and storage
challenges and opportunities.
Experience/fundamental knowledge of the following, with substantial experience in at least two (2), and the ability to learn the others:
Linux and/or Windows server administration experience supporting a diverse Client Server
computing environment
Active Directory or other directory service
Databases (Oracle and SQL Server)
Working with and establishing business as well as technical performance metrics
Configuring and maintaining SAN storage such as PureStorage, EMC VNX, and DataDomain
Configuring and maintaining backup and recovery solutions such as Networker, Avamar, and Zerto
VMware Vsan, VxRail, vSphere Virtualization (or other hypervisor) solutions
ITIL processes and methodologies

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training, Experience and Skills:
Cloud services, including DR-to-the-Cloud, managed cloud VMs and Virtual Desktops
5-7 years of experience in an IT technical area with expertise gained in server, hardware, software,
network/security
Experience with at least 5 of the following specific equipment/systems:
Experience supporting security equipment and operations
Cisco, Checkpoint, BlueCoat, IDS, IBM Servers, EMS, PureStorage
Phone systems, particularly Mitel VoIP
Maintaining Servers and Storage in a global environment
Linux-compatible Scripting language such as Perl, Python, Bash, csh, or tsch
The ability to effectively negotiate with vendors
Industry Certification(s) in 1 or more of the following: networking, security, server, Linux, Windows, Active Directory and/or storage
ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Certification
VCP (VMware Certified Professional) Certification
CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Certification
