If you're looking for a new Network Security opportunity and fancy working with an international client in a fantastic location, this will be for you!
We are recruiting for 2x NETWORK CONSULTANTS that have a background in network engineering and/or network security to join our IT Service Provider client in Valencia, Spain.

This will be a 6-month initial contract with the potential to extend much longer. The client is one part of a globally recognised organisation and it's a very multinational environment with English as the core business language, although if you have Spanish skills that will be a bonus!

As a Network consultant, your duties will include the following:
  • Help resolve network and security related incidents.
  • Action network-related internal and external service requests.
  • Monitor Firewalls health status, backups and logs, and report on the unexpected Firewall cluster member's status changes.
  • Audit and review Firewall rule bases and logs, and clean-up process of obsolete or no hits rules, re-sequence rules according to the number of hits and critical services priority; verify if important and critical services accesses are logged; provide report of temporary rules and request server and application team feedback if they need to be extended or removed.
  • Perform network vulnerability scanning on demand basis and/or as part of vulnerability assessment routine procedure.
  • Identify and troubleshoot network performance and security problems through manual or automatic testing, configuration and system logs inspections.
  • Assist system administrators when necessary for new services implementation, risk assessment and security breach counter-measures implementation.
  • Maintain and support Site-to-Site VPN connections to customer organisations and external companies.
  • Implement new VPN connections.
  • Perform periodical review and tests on the VPN tunnels defined as backup for leased lines.
  • Monitor the Remote Access systems (Cisco AnyConnect and Juniper) operation status.
  • Follow-up on user id deletion and user clearance and removal process, mainly in relation to users' access rules. Check logs and report on unusual activities and unauthorised logging attempts.
  • Monitor the Application Delivery Controllers (F5, Cisco ACE) logs and report on inactive Servers, unusual messages and performance issues.
  • Monitor and analyse the Internet infrastructure and report on suspected or unusual traffic patterns.
  • Maintain CACTI and HP NNMi tools.
  • Interface with network engineers and ensure critical nodes and circuits are monitored.
  • Collaborate with Security Officers and Network Engineers and follow-up on the implementation of the network security best practices and recommendations.
  • Review network configurations and ensuring templates and security hardening recommendations are being implemented.
  • Evaluate vendor's vulnerabilities announcements and determining impact on the client and customer's installed network equipment and operating systems. Recommend upgrades and or security patches as necessary.
  • Create and maintain network diagrams and documentations.
  • Provide support outside business hours when required.
You should have the following skills and experience:
  • Background in Network Engineering and Network Security.
  • Excellent English language skills (written and verbal).
  • Proven ability to manage, configure and troubleshoot network devices such as Cisco Nexus and Catalyst Switches, Cisco ISR/ASR Routers, load balancers, VPN gateways and Firewalls.
  • Experience with NESSUS and other network scanning tools.
  • Previous use of Cisco Collector, NMAP, HP NNMi, Cisco CDP, Wireshark, TCPDUMP or related tools for troubleshooting, network mapping and inventory.
  • Ability to provide support as required.
  • Ability to live and work in Valencia for the contract duration.
