Description

A fantastic opportunity has come up for a Systems Technician to join a globally recognised organisation at their location in southern Italy.
Working as part of a multinational but English-speaking team, you will focus on the support, maintenance and deployment of systems infrastructure, with a focus on technologies including Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, VMware and Linux.
This is an initial 6-month contract but longer term extensions are possible based on good performance and workload. The location is Brindisi which is in the Puglia region of southern Italy. The work/life balance is a big part of this opportunity and if successful you will enjoy all the benefits of a summer in Italy including local beaches, great weather, amazing food, local villages and the nearby towns of Lecce and Bari, plus easy access to more distant places via the local international airport.
As a Systems Technician, your duties will include:
  • Responsibility for the maintenance and administration of the Servers, operating systems and directory services.
  • Managing and maintaining standard configurations, monitoring and analysis tools.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving systems-related problems and incidents.
  • Final testing and deployment of server hardware, operating systems and directory service solutions.
  • Provision of technical documentation as a part of release management process.
  • Providing tier one and tier two (1st/2nd line) support and incident resolution.
  • Working as part of a multi-geographic team on a standard week roster, plus potential out of hours support.
  • Performing other duties, as required.
Education and skills should include:
  • 5 years of solid experience in monitoring, support and administration of systems infrastructure.
  • Background as a systems technician, systems analyst, systems engineer or in a related role.
  • Experience in large datacentre environments is ideal.
  • Technical knowledge including Windows AD Directory Infrastructure and various integration services such as FIM and Exchange at the level of T2/T3.
  • VMware and Linux Operating Systems (MS Windows , VMware VSphere, SLES and RHEL).
  • Knowledge of SCCM, SEP Antivirus, HP Management Suite is a bonus.
  • Basic technical knowledge of HP hardware (BL/DL/ML) and SAN EMC/HP technology.
  • General understanding of Local and Wide Area Network concepts (LAN/WAN).
  • Some knowledge of Powershell and Shell Scripting.
  • Experience in drafting technical documents.
  • ITIL certification or familiarity.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision.
  • Good English communication skills.
