SC/DV Cleared Linux Operations Specialist

My Government Client require an experience Linux Operations Specialist to lead the analysis, design, development and support of Linux based platforms and solutions for internal and external customers. The Linux specialist will be able to deliver business, technical, service and commercial leadership in complex environments whilst ensuring the transition into live of any delivered solutions is performed without impacting customers.

Essential:

*Experience of Linux system administration
*Experience and familiarity with defining and maintaining architectures, standards and services.
*Experience of writing high and low level design document sets.
*Experience of architecture, design, implementation and support of high availability virtualised platforms.
*Experience of architecture, design, implementation and support & managing virtual machines within shared multi-client platforms, including:
*Linux-based OS (CentOS 6.x, 7.x and Ubuntu 12.x).
*Nagios monitoring tools
*Foreman
*Scripting
*Experience of transitioning build components in to Puppet writing custom modules.
*Experience of design, implementation and support configuration of various tools to manage and monitor virtual environments.
*Good networking knowledge.
*Ability to work within an ITIL based service organisation (particularly where project work, planned and reactive maintenance activities interface with the ITIL service processes).
*The ability to work within a team but also individually.
*Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
*Good personal planning and organisational skills (attention to detail)
*Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of dealing with and presenting to staff at all levels.
*Demonstrable practical experience of delivering IT within Central Government
*Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
*Good report writing skills.
*Good understanding of Central Government and OGD systems and HM Government security regulations.

Desirable:

*Experience of design and build of Mongodb based systems, and an understanding of the roadmap in the next release.
*Experience of working within an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL v3) support environment.
*Knowledge of IT Service Management toolsets ie HP OVSD and HP Service Manager (SM9)
*Experience of capacity management and performance tuning.
