Description

Fantastic contract opportunity open for a EPC (Evolved Packet Core) Engineer with EPC Design experience and ideally Samsung vendor experience to come on-board and work for a reputable vibrant telecommunications company based in Dublin, Ireland. This will be an initial 6 month contract position with very competitive rates on offer.

Role Purpose:

The role will report into the Core Design Manager, and will perform vendor management for any outsourced design services, ensuring wrap-around design continuity towards VAS, Service Layer, RAN, Transmission, IP, IT, and Service Delivery, as well as towards Test and Ops for both strategic and development change for the Core Networks.

Key experience:

  • Educated to diploma/degree level in an Engineering/Telecommunications discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years telecoms experience with at least 4 years in planning and design. Previous Core Design experience which should include performance and capacity management.
  • Proven track record in striving for continuous improvement and driving efficiencies, whilst maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills to drive Core Design Team deliverables and collaboration with other Networks and IT departments
  • Design and deployment experience of key network systems/nodes (for example MME & SAE-GW) through the full delivery life cycle from initial design to full operational handover.
  • Excellent working knowledge of EPC/IMS/LTE architecture, interfaces and procedures, with understanding of key LTE associated technologies and functionality including IMS, RCSe, VoLTE, SRVCC and CSFB.
  • Good working knowledge of 3GPP, IETF and GSMA standards and architectures.
  • Good understanding of Operational and Business support systems.
  • Good practical skills in troubleshooting and fault resolution on an end to end basis
  • Project life cycle understanding.
  • Good time management and ability to work to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to engage different areas of the business at varying levels of technical capability.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be the technical authority for LTE EPC and responsible for the design and technical delivery of LTE EPC.
  • Responsibility to drive through and the Core Design department deliveries; from solution design, to High Level Designs, to Low Level Designs, to Databuild and to successful handover of solution to Core Operations for implementation.
  • Provides input to High Level System Designs across 2G/3G/4G Voice and Data Core, whether the designs be done internally, or externally.
  • Work with local and outsourced Vendor designs, and be responsible for design deliveries for LTE EPC and the core interface to other network elements & solutions for example:

CS/PS Core networks
VAS/Service Layer
Enterprise/MVNO design support
Testbed
End-of-life Management
Enterprise/MVNO design support
New core technology (Eg: VToW and VoLTE/SRVCC. Etc)

  • Collaborate with VAS and Core Solution team to ensure end-to-end design management, and prioritisation of the Business.
  • Collaborate with RAN and Transmission team to ensure end-to-end design management, and prioritisation of the Business.
  • Collaborate with Core Programme Delivery team to ensure that Project and Programme Plans are built up in a realistic manner that takes into account all internal and external dependencies to the Core Network, and that uses realistic but aggressive delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with the Test Function to ensure the team are directly involved in testing, or indirectly observing the tests being performed per project, to ensure ERN (Engineering Release Notes) can be approved.
  • Collaborate with Core Operations to ensure design process outputs are translated into accurate node configuration and Method of Procedure integration documentation.
