Are you an experienced MS SQL DBA looking for a new and exciting contract opportunity?
We are looking for a strong DBA ideally with Database Development experience as well as some experience of Data Warehouse to provide technical hands on expertise as well as provide feedback and recommendations. We are looking for a DBA who has strong communications skills to be able to go out to the business to discuss best practice and make recommendations if required.
The Data Warehouse and Microsoft SQL Services are critical for providing insight' to the business.
This role will be responsible for recommending and delivering any proposed changes and enhancements to the system, together with the required data interfaces - in accordance with company standards and the systems/data architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring availability and performance of the company's SQL Server Estate
- Performance tuning and optimisation of complex transactional SQL
- Deliver enhancements to the in-house data warehouse system in a robust and effective manner
- Supporting Java development teams with database requirements
- Responsible for implementation and release of database changes
Essential Skills:
- SQL Server database administration experience in an operational role
- Experience in managing multiple Microsoft SQL Server instance
- In-depth working knowledge of advanced T-SQL, including stored procedures, triggers and user defined functions
- Understanding of database design principles
- Installation and configuration of SQL Server
- Awareness of latest SQL Server tools and technologies
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently
- SQL Server Integration Services
- Data warehousing, ETL and Business Intelligence experience
- Good communication skills written and verbal
