Description
System Administrator/Architect - Redhat/Netapp/VW Ware - Belgium Based - initial ten month contract with possible 4 year extension.
NATURE OF THE TASKS
In the context of the AFIS Framework and Portal applications that manage electronic documents and their secure exchange between competent authorities in the EU Institutions and EU Member States, International Organisations and other partners external to the EU:
The consultant will perform, under the management of an OLAF official, the following tasks:
- Design and implementation of Red Hat Linux based application Servers
- Design and implementation of a storage solution using NetApp and HP MSS systems
- Setup, configure, monitor and manage the following systems:
o Red Hat Linux Servers
o Backup systems for Red Hat Linux systems
o NetApp and HP MSS storage systems
o Network and IT security equipment - Design and implementation of monitoring based on open source tools and configuration management
- Assist the AFIS service manager to ensure Package management (RPM)
- Performance analysis and tuning of Red Hat Linux systems
- Troubleshooting on system level, check system log files
- Implement system changes, install system patches and support infrastructure changes
- Provide 2nd level support
- Interface with external suppliers and manage calls with 3rd level support for Red Hat Linux, VMware and NetApp systems
- Perform architectural design/reviews for Red Hat Linux systems and storage solutions
- Assist the responsible OLAF officials in the review and implementation of security standards (hardening) for Red Hat Linux Servers
- Document system configuration, draft system documentation & operating procedures
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in multi-client and multinational environments
- Excellent working knowledge of English (both spoken and written) is mandatory
- Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, ease of communication is mandatory
- Rapid self-starting capability and experience in team work
- Detailed technical expertise in the following areas:
o Red Hat Linux
o Scripting
o Networking & IT security - Proven knowledge in the following areas:
o VMware virtualization
o Storage systems - Knowledge of ITIL based IT service management; ITIL Foundation certification would be an advantage
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE (LEVEL 1)
- Proven knowledge in the following areas:
o VMware virtualization and storage systems
o Scripting o Networking & IT security - Red Hat Certified Engineer certification is required
- VMware certification would be an advantage
- NetApp certification would be an advantage
- Cisco certification would be an advantage
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- The consultant is required to sign the Security Procedure before the signature of his/her specific contract and have it submitted to OLAF. The presence of the signed Security Procedure per specific contract is mandatory.
- The consultant may be required occasionally to be available on-call or work outside normal working hours, on weekends or public holidays.
