POSITION TITLE: Enterprise Technology Delivery Services - Voice Technician
POSITION PURPOSE:
Building representative for Enterprise Desktop/Field Support Services, Voice Technician determines phone and unified communication requirements related to facility moves and changes, major building projects, and changes in operational requirements. Designs the American Airlines voice infrastructure to support the airline operations, determines the specific equipment requirements and topology. Manage other IT voice/phone/unified communication infrastructure efforts as may be required. Responsibilities may include support to other DFW Campus areas, including the DFW Admin Building and the HDQ Campus as needed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond to directed changes in HDQ Campus buildings and airport operations to include relative changes in space assignments, additions, and terminal re-locations.
- Perform site surveys as may be required and assess the scope of the change.
- Consult with the local Royal Ridge 3 operation, American Airlines Corporate Real Estate, and the local business units (Cargo and Tech Ops) to identify space, facilities, campus provided infrastructure if mandated, and proposed schedule.
- Architect the voice requirements and associated data cable infrastructure to support the business operation including identification of proposed wiring closets, cable distribution, available backbone infrastructure
- Identify voice equipment requirements to support the new operation for preparation of a funding estimate.
- Coordinate development of the voice/phone/unified communication requirements and with the appropriate PM;s for Desktop, Telecom, Network.
- Provide onsite support to the required business organizations for the scheduled changes to the voice system or relocation of personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10 + years overall Telecomm experience in related voice and IT infrastructure design and operations.
-Must have technical experience with Nortel/Avaya/Cisco
-Proven ability to manage the Movement and Installation of 500+ voice users on a large voice enterprise
- Must be capable of effectively communicating with real estate personnel and potential contractors to relate the needs of the business operation and negotiate pricing favorable to the airline.
- Experience reading and using architectural and electrical drawings.
- Must be able to operate independently.
- Must be familiar with the work order process.
- Must have effective written skills to document findings, requirements and voice infrastructure architecture.
- Must be willing to work extended hours and participate in a 24X7 support role to the airline.
- May be required to travel.
- College degree desired or equivalent experience.
