Site Supervisor/Agent - Highways - West Sussex

Immediate start - 3 month contract - £ Attractive daily rate

An exciting opportunity has arisen with one of the UK's leading construction companies for an experienced Site Supervisor, on a Highways maintenance project within the TMC Framework. You will be working alongside 5 other agents and be responsible for circa 20 other personnel. Although you will be largely mobile across West Sussex, this role is based predominantly in Chichester.

Key responsibilities:

Health, Safety and Quality:

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and company procedures across all the SHEQ functions
  • Ensure high quality of works delivered by Subcontractors and/or in-house resource
  • Support the development RAMS, Programmes and Construction Phase Health and Safety Plans.
  • Site Supervision

Customer:

  • Work pro-actively to build strong client relationships with WSCC counterparts and other stakeholders.
  • Liaising with members of the client team to ensure that the client's needs are met.

Management and Team Responsibilities:

  • Managing and monitoring the progress of schemes delivered by in house labour resources and sub contract resources.
  • Managing and monitoring works to programme and budget.
  • Motivating and influencing staff to deliver high levels of performance.
  • Day-to-day management of delivery, ensuring efficient and effective performance of the combined team.
  • Review and reconcile actual performance of the team against planned assumptions.
  • Support the production of as built records and health and safety files.
  • Propose and implement changes to support a culture of continual improvement.
  • Ensure daily work schedules are correct and that gangs are deployed in effective manner
  • Provide management reports and complete statutory paperwork as required.
  • Manage timesheets, job sheets and associated paperwork.
  • Ensure quality of service is being maintained and provide technical advice to gangs as required.

General

  • Ensure timely and appropriate correspondence in response to letters, emails
  • Liaise with other managers to provide best utilisation of materials, equipment and manpower
  • Duty Agent out of hours (on a rota basis)
  • Winter Maintenance duties
  • Attend parish events as required by the business

Qualifications

  • CSCS Card
  • NRSWA ideally units 1 to 16
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent

Desirable:

  • LANTRA NHSS 12D
  • HGV & Winter Maintenance 6159

Skills Required:

  • Competent IT User (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage and lead team members
  • Ability to work under a high degree of pressure
  • Experience of working within the utility/civil industry
  • Experience of working to NRSWA

Candidates need to be a driver and have your own car as this role involves the need to be regularly mobile.
