Description

The Maritime Installation and Integration Engineer will support the design, development, installation planning and associated testing, installation and setting to work of maritime equipment. They will plan and arrange the labour, schedules, and equipment required for the testing, installation and setting to work activities.

In addition the successful candidate will be required to operate under their own initiative in working with external end customers whilst away on assignment.

Maritime Installation & Integration Engineer - Contract - Hampshire - £30 - £35 per Hour

Key Responsibilities:

The Maritime Integration and Installation engineers will be responsible to the Maritime Installation Manager for conducting all Maritime integration, test, installation and setting to work activities.

  • Support and development of installation plans.
  • Provide support to the planning and implementation of system installations to RN platforms and Land sites.
  • Conduct platform integration, test, installation and setting to work activities as directed by the Maritime Installation Manager.
  • Develop and document Maritime integration and test procedures.
  • Conduct Maritime pre installation system checks.
  • Conduct Maritime platform and shore base safety zone inspections.
  • Present and conduct MCTA inspections, harbour and sea trials as directed by the Maritime Installation Manager.

Additional/Occasional Duties and Tasks:

  • Candidates will be expected to travel and work off site on-board Royal Navy ships and submarines.
  • Candidate will be expected to undertake Field Support Engineer work within the Maritime domain and will be required to:
    • Perform diagnosis, maintenance on and modifications to the electrical, electronic, IT and mechanical systems installed on Operational Platforms and in Training establishments. The highest level of engineering standards and practices are expected at all times.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of all interfacing systems.
    • Provide advice and guidance to system users.
    • Foster and maintain end-user customer relationships.
  • Candidates will be expected to undertake Maritime sea trials on-board Royal Navy ships and submarines.
  • Candidates may be expected to undertake specialist Royal Navy training requirements (sea survival course, submarine escape training) in support of Maritime sea trials.

Key Skills:

  • Previous WECDIS and/or maritime navigation experience desirable.
  • Previous SONAR 2054 experience desirable.
  • Previous navigational radar experience desirable.
  • Previous maritime platform acceptance process experience.
  • Knowledge of the MOD Change Impact Assessment Procedure (CIAP).

Desired Skills:

  • Good time management skills and ability to prioritise resources to react to operational requirements.
  • Good inter-personal and technical skills and must be able to work within a small technical team and provide technical expertise and leadership when required.
  • Self-starting and capable of working effectively with minimal day to day supervision under only general direction.
  • Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Strong customer and end user focus and capable of readily interpreting and influencing customer thinking.
