Electrical Engineer - (Shipbuilding)

An Electrical Engineer within Shipbuilding is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our defence client based in Glasgow.

This is a 6 month contract with a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the Electrical Engineer (Shipbuilding) contract role

The Platform Management System (PMS) is a multi-tiered control and monitoring system that provides a unified control interface that allows the crew to interact, operate and interrogate ships systems. Reporting to the ship Engineering Manager - PMS Programme and Delivery, the PMS Electrical Engineer will be responsible for assisting with the development of the ship Platform Management System, integration within the ship Platform and management of the PMS supplier.

  • Provide "at elbow" support to production and test and commissioning during the construction of the ships.
  • Work with the shipyard teams to proactively identify, and resolve issues in a timely fashion
  • Draw on the expertise of the wider engineering team, including DDAs, where required, to ensure issues are correctly resolved and embodied into the design
  • Support Production in the interpretation of engineering information
  • Provide engineering expertise during key activities and evolutions as appropriate to the discipline (eg shafting, hvac balance, cable reeve and termination, critical seat installation etc)

Key skills required for the Electrical Engineer (Shipbuilding)

  • You will be an expert within the shipbuilding industry as an electrically biased engineer
  • Platform Management System (PMS) experience
  • The ability to liaise closely with other engineering disciplines to develop deliverables and interfaces to meet the project schedule requirements and maturity

The role is based in Glasgow - Commutable from Scotstoun, Kilmarnock, Paisley, Greenock, Stirling and Falkirk with excellent access from Edinburgh.
