Network/Infrastructure Specialist
Duties
- Maintaining, installing and fault finding of power cabling and associated sub-systems, grounding and bonding, copper based and fibre based structured cabling, fibre optic modems, line drivers and media convertors.
- Administration, configuration and maintenance of: Local Area Networks (LAN)/Wide Area Networks (WAN) system technologies, Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet protocol (IP), routing and switching protocols, Microsoft operating systems and Linux server software.
- System network troubleshooting, utilising complex and diverse test equipment, system management systems and software tools.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of hardware installation (cabling, racking, labelling, upgrading, maintaining, troubleshooting).
- Familiar with processes related to Change/Configuration management.
- Knowledge of Intel hardware (Servers, disk and tape storage).
- Install, maintain and repair the and fibre-optic networks, including cable infrastructures, local area networks.
- Structured Cabling, Planning, installing and maintaining fibre and copper connectivity within the Data Centre (including FC or iSCSI).
- Repairing, installing and maintaining Copper and fibre-optic cabling.
- Develop, Implement and Maintain Power, Rack Space (and Air Conditioning) Plans.
- Develop and Maintenance Plan of Data Centre Hardware upgrades including Firmware distribution.
- Health and Safety at Work and First Aid.
- a current UK DV/SC or NATO clearance.
Preferred skills
- Understanding of TEMPEST/EMCON regulations, policies and procedures
This is an initial 6 months contract with a strong likelihood of extension.
