FPGA/Firmware Design Engineer - VHDL
An FPGA/Firmware Design Engineer with VHDL based FPGA design & verification techniques is required to work on a six month contract (with the possiblity of extension) for our Defence client based in Edinburgh.
Overview of the FPGA/Firmware Design contract role
This is a Contract Firmware (FPGA) Engineer to design and develop firmware for airborne applications.
Key skills required for the FPGA/Firmware Design
Candidates are expected to have a degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, ideally specialising in FPGA/Digital techniques.
- VHDL based FPGA design & verification techniques
- Current FPGA technologies from either Xilinx or Altera
- Adopting a methodical approach to firmware design, ideally working to a structured firmware process such as RTCA DO-254 or similar
- Specifying complex timing and area constraints for efficient FPGA place and route
- De-bugging and testing firmware designs and supporting module and system related test verification and integration project phases
Familiarity with Mentor Graphics FPGA Development tools including HDL Designer, ModelSim/Questa and Precision are an advantage.
The role is based in Edinburgh - commutable from Dundee, Perth, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline, Stirling and Falkirk with excellent access from Glasgow
