Description
Modis are currently recruiting for a CAD Designer for a Defence company based in Dorset. The CAD Designer will initially be assigned until the end of September when the project meets a key deadline. Following this, depending upon performance, there will be another assignment.
Role: CAD Designer
Rate: up to £35 per hour initially
Location:Poole, Dorset
Duration: 3 months rolling
Clearance: Eligible for BPSS Baseline Clearance
Job Summary
To produce and maintain manufacturing documents including Drawings and Bills of material for a variety of products.
Key Responsibilities
*To work under on specific projects under the guidance of the Engineering Manager and project Team Leads.
*Calculate dimensions and weights of components, ensure dimensions provide full inter-changeability with associated parts, as required
*To attend and actively participate in design reviews.
General Tasks
*Prepare from engineering specifications design layouts and manufacturing and support document package for a variety of electro-mechanical products using Solidworks and Draftsight (Autocad 2D) software packages.
*Participate in other Design Department activities including processing of change notes, drawing checks and other administration duties as required.
*Examine design specifications, sketches, calculations and other data provided by Design Engineers
*Work from design layouts prepared by Design Engineer or other Cad Designers
*Give due consideration to the selection of materials and compounds to be used, most effective and economical method of manufacture and examine the possibility of incorporating standard components, parts and materials
*Prepare layouts and general arrangement drawings to scale showing the position, size, shape and inter-relationship of components
Knowledge Requirements
Proficient in the use of
*Solidworks (Inventor would be considered)
*Autocad 2D
*Familiar with MRP systems and electronic Bills of Materials.
*BS8888 and familiarisation with good Drawing Practice
*Geometric Tolerancing standards
*Current appropriate manufacturing processes
