Digital Payload Engineer, Contractor

As a member of the Field Office Team reporting to the Satellite Program Manager, the incumbent will be a key contributor to the activities of satellite procurement team.

The incumbent will be in charge of the follow-up of satellite manufacturers' activities in relation to the development of the new generation Digital Processor and associated systems (frequency con- verters. in-band command and control interface).

The incumbent will work in close relationship with the Manufacturer's development team in charge of ASICs, MMICs and equipment developments in a review and control role.

In this role, the incumbent will work in cooperation with multiple teams, and will be integrated in the Digital Payload Implementation Working Group, group of client experts in charge of an independent assessment of major technical issues identified in the development of Digital Processors and associated subsystems.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Responsible for the follow-up of the development and the procurement of the DTP and associated systems on XXXX satellite
  • Review the design and the development to identify deficiencies and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Ensure high reliability and performance requirements with no major deviations or waivers from contract specification
  • Provides XXXX Technology Management with timely, objective and independent assessments of major issues affecting the development of new equipment and proposes mitigation actions
  • Contribute development expertise in multiple domains associated to new developments: ASICS, MMICS, Digital Transparent Processor, Frequency Converters, Master Local Oscillators, In-band TM/TC modems, TM/TC Controller
  • Analyze the manufacturers tradeoff choices based on the system perspective given by experts from the XXXX Digital Payload Implementation Working Group and provide recommendations for equipment optimization
  • Contribute to periodic reporting for Digital Payload Implementation Working Group activities

COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrated experience in Satellite procurement
  • Demonstrated experience in development/procurement of Digital hardware
  • Demonstrated experience in development/procurement of RF hardware
  • Understanding of ASIC and MMIC development methods
  • Good Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing
  • Basic knowledge of radiation tolerance matters
  • Basic knowledge of satellite systems, ground and space segments
  • Effective analytical skills & interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding presentation skills for articulating complex subjects to unfamiliar audiences

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • University Degree in electronic/micro-electronic engineering related fields;
  • At least 10 years of work experience in hardware development
  • Fluency in English, one other European language being an asset.
