Senior Infrastructure Engineer (5-7 Years) - Dallas

Job Description
Provides technical direction, planning and vision. As a technical leader on new projects, creates, maintains, and owns infrastructure related technical specifications, designs, and schedules with little direction from manager.
- Must have deep technical knowledge in operating systems, client and/or hosting hardware, Back Office applications, web and application services, network protocols, databases, connectivity services, storage, backup and recovery, and systems management concepts and techniques for vital and critical systems
- Must possess excellent with hands-on technical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with full software development life cycle (SDLC/Agile)
- Demonstrated Agile methodology experience, including technology delivery methods
- Possess consulting skills, leadership qualities, credibility, and self-confidence
- Provide technical leadership for supporting Unix and Virtualization platform across distributed environments
- Establish recommendations and guidelines for the development, test, operations and application support & development lab environments
- Provide information needed to assess the risk of production deployment of critical & vital applications
- Experience with installation and configuration readiness, performance and scalability evaluation, stability and durability evaluation, and best practices procedures
- Assist in determining overall hardware and software configuration along with capacity projections and planning for future support of growing operations
- In-depth understanding of compute technologies, environments, and data centers and their engineering integration into mission critical system designs
- Understanding of current technologies in relevant areas of expertise
- Explores and stays abreast of new technologies that can bring value to the organization

Qualifications
Technical Expertise:
- Strong ability to troubleshoot complex issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issues
- Expert knowledge of Red Hat Linux
- Need to have strong knowledge of installing, configuring and maintaining of Linux OS (RPM)
- Strong understanding of networking is required
- Experience with external storage (SAN/NAS) is required from server - configuration and administration prospective
- Shell Scripting & PHP knowledge as Unix Administrator is required
- Working knowledge of backup and restore of UNIX Servers
- Knowledge of capacity monitoring and management of a VM environment
- High Availability concept/knowledge will be a big plus (ie Local Datacenter HA or DR across multiple DC)
- Expert knowledge of Proxy service, naming services (LDAP, DNS etc.) is needed
- Any working knowledge of dynaTrace will be highly preferred
- Understands boot process and run levels, paging and swapping, inter-process communication, functions of devices and device drivers and file system concepts
- Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure
- Experience managing a development lab with off shore developers
- Hands on experience configuring and maintaining Cisco Switches, Adaptive Security Appliance (Firewall, Router, VPN)
- Hands on experience with troubleshooting EMC storage and Proxy Servers
- Have understanding of Java applications, and J2EE framework, Oracle and SQL server
- Working knowledge of current technologies like DevOps (Puppet, Chef, Ansible)
- Working knowledge of cloud based solutions working within a MSP environment
- Virtualization Technologies: SDDC (Software-Defined Data Center) SD Networks, Hypervisors, Containers.
- Understands emerging technologies - Cloud: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, etc.
- Working knowledge of f5, MQ or messaging services
- Forges strong relationships across departments

- Participate in a duty rotation providing 24 x 7 supports of production systems and applications
- Ability to scrutinize applications and services to ensure they adhere to security standards
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field preferred
- 5 years' experience required
