A Renewable Energy client is looking for a Consultant to work as a Geotechnical Engineer (Staff or Senior Staff) for a number of their offshore wind farm projects. This is a 12 month freelance contract role anticipated to commence from 1st August 2017 up until the end of July 2018 with the possibility of extending further thereafter. This is anticipated to be a 4 day working week.Responsibilities:
- Overall management of geotechnical disciplines during the development of an offshore wind farm project.
- Attending clients meetings with various project teams.
- Site walkover for HDD feasibility and site investigations.
- Identification and evaluation of geohazards related to offshore wind projects.
- To plan and scope onshore and offshore geotechnical site investigations, including boreholes, soil sampling in-situ testing (CPTU's), laboratory testing etc, this will be for various offshore structures.
- Technical management of offshore geotechnical site investigations.
- Interpretation of laboratory test results and derivation of engineering soil properties.
- Preparation of geotechnical database (using software gINT).
- To support the Geophysical with establishment of a 3D ground model.
- Prepare the design profiles for cable design and installation.
- Performing in-house cable burial risk assessments.
- To undertake trencher performance assessments.
- Undertaking cable burial risk assessment.
- Trencher performance assessments.
- Supporting contractor claims during installation.
- MSc or other relevant Masters or PhD degree in Engineering.
- 5 years. relevant work experience as a geotechnical engineer.
- 3 years. relevant work experience within offshore wind projects.
- Competence level is staff or Senior Staff.
