Description

The Government Security Profession refers to over 1700 Civil Servants who work within the UK government on projects relating to information security. This is an area that is of increasing importance as new threats to cyber security are continually emerging.
The Senior Communications Officer is a new position, within a team of 9 called the Government Security Profession Team. The purpose of the team is to manage the attraction, retention and upskilling of IT security professionals across government.
Some of the work involved will include:
• Developing a communications strategy to ensure maximum reach for the Government Security Profession Team
• Creating content such as blogs and newsletters
• Developing and delivering campaigns centred on key events enabling networking and collaboration
• Working with the security community to deliver a Security Profession conference on behalf of the Head of Profession
• Managing, maintaining and improving the Professions website making sure it is relevant and up to date and continuously improved.

What we are looking for:
• Experienced communications professional
• Member of PRCA, MRS, CIM or CIPR
• Interest in cyber security, information assurance and related fields
• Experience in a fast paced environment
• Ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders
This position can be based either in Central London or Manchester. Currently this is set to be a 2-year fixed-term appointment, but will provide an excellent platform for continuing your career elsewhere in the Civil Service.
