Description

The Government Security Profession refers to over 1700 Civil Servants who work within the UK government on projects relating to information security. This is an area that is of increasing importance as new threats to cyber security are continually emerging.
The Senior Strategy & Skills Officer is a new position, within a team of 9 called the Government Security Profession Team. The purpose of the team is to manage the attraction, retention and upskilling of IT security professionals across government.
Some of the work involved will include:
•Developing a clear vision and brand for the Security Profession, including cyber, personnel and physical security.
•Building and maintaining working relationships with other professions across the Civil Service and private sector professional bodies
•Developing a self-directed learning culture
•Evaluating the quality of training provided identifying areas for improvement.
•Contributing to the development of an upskilling programme, including cyber, for a range of audiences across Government.
What we are looking for:
•Experience in an administration function, ideally for a public sector organisation, charity or professional body
•Interest in cyber security, information assurance and related fields
•Experience in a fast-paced environment
•Ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders
•Proven negotiation skills with confidence to challenge
This position can be based either in Central London or Manchester. Currently this is set to be a 2-year fixed-term appointment, but will provide an excellent platform for continuing your career elsewhere in the Civil Service.
