Modis are currently recruiting for an Electronics Hardware Engineer, with experience working in the Defence or Aerospace industry, that is comfortable completing Schematic Capture, PCB Layouts, Cable design and wiring schedules.

The Successful candidate will be working on a variety of electronic products for military applications including naval combat management systems to data distribution systems. Experience in either of these is not necessary, though seen as a bonus.

A hardware engineer works within the electrical and electronics team to complete designs on time and to budget.

Foreground activities include production of wiring schedules, schematic capture, PCB layout, firmware implementation and design reviews. Conceptual designs of solutions to System level problems may be necessary, which could include rapid prototyping to de-risk some aspects of a wider problem. Cable design and wiring schedules may also form part of the day to day workload as well as documentation.

The electrical and electronics team works on a wide variety of designs from high speed digital electronic platforms to wired cabinets. These are used for military applications both externally and internally to group companies. Engineers in the department are involved in all phases of development including bid support.

Key Responsibilities

*Resolving technical problems associated with assigned products
*Providing design solutions for electrical/electronic equipment, taking into account EMC design.
*Production of cabinet wiring schedules and associated detailed design work.
*Production of design documentation (include technical and design proving reports/CE compliance and Product Test Specifications)
*Providing appropriate constructive challenge in design reviews to identify and mitigate any key issues.
*Carrying out engineering activity in accordance with engineering procedures
*Provide support to other engineering functions during development and production.
*PCB design using computer aided design tools, schematic design and PCB layout.
*Obsolescence management of existing designs.

A Hardware Engineer will be accountable for:
*Ensuring the development and manufacturing costs for new projects can be minimised.
*Carrying out engineering activity in accordance with engineering procedures.
*Delivery of work packages to time, cost and quality requirement
*Ensuring compliance of the design to the technical, business and project requirements.
*Ensuring the design is under suitable configuration control.

Tools & Software Packages used:
*Autodesk Electrical - for wiring schedules
*Cadence OrCAD
*Microsoft Office
