Description

ROLE: SATCOM UHF Engineer
RATE: € per day
CLEARACE: NATO Secret/SC Cleared
LOCATION: Mons, Belgium
LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Until 31st December, with potential extension

THE ROLE:
*Supporting all functional areas of the NCC, as part of a functional team.
*Supporting Incident Management process, dispatching incidents to the relevant technical elements for resolution and performing operational impact assessment determining services affected and users impacted.
*Providing technical support and assistance for networking and data switching and routing equipment.
*Monitoring, controlling and conducting first and second level of troubleshooting if required, of all data systems and services in support of all NCI Agency customers throughout NATO.
*Administrates data and services monitoring and control platforms for optimum performance for use by the NCC personnel.
*Responsible for co-ordination with internal and external agencies to restore networks and communication services.
*Assists in the direction and co-ordination of corrective action to regional and other control activities in the event of failure or degradation in any of the networks.
*Utilises automatic data processing devices and tools within the control centre and uses all available centralized service management tools to restore all services availability and quality at the agreed levels.
*Follows senior guidance and established processes, cooperating when requested, to its development and improvement.
*Participates in the development and delivery of the required on-the-job training to junior technicians and is responsible to assure all NCC' technical staff hold the appropriate skills required to perform their tasks at the appropriate level.
*Work on own initiative with limited supervision, may lead others as required.
*Deputize for higher grade staff.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
*Higher Secondary education and completed higher vocational training leading to a formal technical or professional certification with 3 years function related experience, or a Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 5 years post related experience.
*Prior experience in technical support and assistance for networking and data switching and routing equipment.
*Very good understanding of telecommunications/network/information technology solutions & products.
*Experience in service management (ie Incident, problem management, etc.) and customer support focused approach in a control centre environment and experience in management and use of related toolsets (eg ITSM).
