Description

THE ROLE:
*Performs 3rd level technical support for Operations, Exercises and the Static VIDEO MCU Backbone & other NATO VIDEO conferencing Equipment;
*Performs remote fault diagnosis at Operational, Exercises & other NATO sites using the VIDEO Management System;
*Carries out remote routine maintenance of Operations, Exercises and the static VIDEO infrastructure, management appliances and other NATO VIDEO equipment;
*Update of directory tables;
*Performs changes to the system documentation;
*Perform backups and restores of VTC core devices; MCUs, Management Appliances, Session Border Controllers across a wide area network;
*Directs the work undertaken by the site technician;
*Performs remote fault diagnosis on Management Servers, MCU's and Endpoints as required;
*Assists the VTC Engineers with coordinating with sites for VTC elements centralisation, standardisation and best practices;
*Creates and maintains of Standard Operating Procedures within the VTC Cell;
*Performs and configures test scenarios within the NGCS Reference Facility, pertinent to the area of VTC and network configuration problem resolution;
*Ensure a common understanding of the available toolsets and method of utilization within the centralised and distributed user base;
*Investigating and proposing long term solutions to encountered equipment and configuration problems;
*When required, conducts system acceptance testing within the VTC infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
*Four years' operation and configuration experience of Polycom VTC endpoints and MCUs;
*Four years' operation and configuration experience of Tandberg/Cisco VTC endpoints and MCUs;
*Intermediate operational and configuration knowledge of VTC management appliances such as; Real Presence Resource Manager, RMX MCUs, Distributed Management Application (DMA) 7000, Cisco MSE 8000;
*Three years' experience with deployment and configuration of VTC solutions including MCUs, management appliances and endpoints;
*Experience with device management monitoring tools such as nGeniusOne, Solar Winds, Intermapper, to include adding devices to be monitored, creating automatic reporting thresholds, identifying devices that aren't functioning properly;
*Good knowledge of protocols and standards utilized in VTC and Unified Communications; SIP, TLS, H.323, H.245, H.239, G.711, G.722, Siren14, Siren22, and other similar standards;
*Good knowledge in design, deployment and configuration VTC equipment integration with Unified Communications solutions such as Microsoft Lync or Cisco Jabber;
*Familiarity with VNOC applications including Centralized Scheduling tools, Call Detail Record reporting tools and automated fault identification tools;
*Proficient in utilizing Audio Video control solutions such as Crestron, Extron, AMX;
*Ability to configure, optimize and diagnose VTC CODECs including Polycom Group Series, HDX models, Polycom VSX models, Tandberg MXP series and Cisco C series devices;
*Ability to query VTC core devices such as management appliances, MCUs, Gatekeepers and quickly resolve customer issues including: scheduling conflict or failure, missing participants, poor audio or video, dropped calls, bandwidth provisioning;
*Comprehension of Audio Video Matrix solutions;
*Experience with deployment, testing and evaluation of communications gateway Session Border Controller; ACME Packet, Cisco CUBE, Cisco VCS Expressway and Polycom RPAD;
*Good knowledge of TCP/IP protocols;
*Good knowledge in troubleshooting TCP/IP related issues in a LAN and WAN environment;
*Practical experience in the implementation, testing and maintenance of modern communications, or information systems in a LAN and WAN environment;

DESIRABLE SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
*Sound knowledge of communications protocols and practical experience of using diagnostic test equipment;
*Commercial certifications; Security+, CCNA, Polycom CVE;
*Familiarity with military voice and data systems;
*Experience of related communications systems and techniques of ATM, TDM, Frame Relay and MPLS;
*Experience with integrating communications systems with Active Directory and PKI technologies;
*Experience of preparing technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
*Demonstrable evidence in maintaining knowledge of advances in Information Technology;
*Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
*Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including Allied Command Operations and Allied Command Transformation.
