Description

A new 6 month contract opportunity is currently available for a SQL Database Administrator to join our Queensland Government Client, based in Brisbane CBD.

The SQL Database Administrator will be required to provide quality database and application administration services and keep up-to-date with developments in the information technology industry and provide technical expertise in the following activities;

  • Database administration, design, configuration, maintenance, tuning for performance and reliability
  • Enterprise systems implementation
  • Application Server patching, maintenance and support
  • System design and theory and support of the business procedures systems comprise

Further to this, the SQL Database Administrator will be required to take on the following key deliverables and responsibilities below;

  • Evaluation of documentation and information input to a separate DR project for disaster recovery and business continuity plans in line with business service level agreements
  • Design, develop and manage system and database upgrade plans and changes through liaison with both internal and external stakeholders in line with corporate change management policies
  • Optimise production databases and database management systems to operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Design, implement, document and manage backup and restore processes
  • Performance monitoring and reporting
  • Ensure successful operation and management of databases, applications and information sources on behalf of client groups particularly in relation to innovation, service level agreements, flexibility, cost and performance.
  • Perform analysis, design and documentation of client requirements for information technology projects and initiatives as required.
  • Perform design, development and implementation of enhancements to existing strategic information systems and new information systems as required
  • Documentation of the database environments and related systems, formulation of procedures and support material to assist in efficient and effective Data Centre operations.

To be carefully considered for this role, it is essential the ssuccessful candidate hold the following key technical expertise and professional attributes as required;

  • Proven ability to effectively plan, support, manage and maintain IT services including: Support and administration of enterprise systems consisting of SQL Servers and Application Servers
  • Security and patch management SQL Servers and Application Servers
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively design, develop, enhance and maintain databases and information products and services including database knowledge and experience, and an understanding of the foundations of Knowledge Management.
  • Demonstrated high level skills in research, negotiation, consultation, and communication (written and verbal), including the ability work within a team of technical resources and liaise with a range of internal and external clients.
  • Thorough knowledge of and demonstrated experience with the concepts, strategies and issues associated with delivering information management, technology and related services into a medium to large organization.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to customer service and equity in the workplace.
