1 x IT SERVICE DESK person is needed for an initial 6 month contract in Brindisi, Puglia.

This is an English-speaking role working as part of a multinational team. You don't have to be hugely experienced but you must have some 1st line technical support experience and be familiar with Sharepoint, Windows, SQL and related environments. You'll also have experience logging issues and providing resolutions, preferably using ITIL.

This is a contract/freelance opportunity and if successful you will have to use your own limited company or register as a local freelancer with "partiva iva" to take up a position. This role is for someone looking to gain more technical experience and someone that's interested in working in Italy. It will not be suitable for people only interested in income potential.

Service Desk duties:
  • Log service calls and emails on the client's CRM system.
  • Provide phone responses to routine queries and incidents (tier 1 level support).
  • Manage and escalate user and support incidents when necessary (to tier 3).
  • Monitor and inform customers of outages, known errors and progress if these cannot be resolved by phone.
  • Prioritise and analyse documented ticketed user issues.
  • Where applicable, ensure seamless hand-over of work across shifts and time zones.
  • Perform other Service Desk activities as required including recommending and actioning improvements to the service desk environment and process.
  • Provide technical documentation related to service desk environment that can be used by others.
  • Work standby/on call support if needed.
Required Service Desk skills:
  • You must be fluent in English.
  • You must have some tier 1 technical support experience.
  • You should be capable of support users by phone and email and responding to general application and all-round IT issues.
  • Good knowledge of SharePoint and SQL Server.
  • Understand and familiarity with Windows, MS Exchange, MS Office suite, LDAP, BI applications or mail platforms.
  • Experience in handling tickets within a CRM system.
  • You should be familiar with ITIL (certification is ideal).
  • Italian, French or Spanish language skills are advantageous.
The Location:
  • Brindisi is in the south of Italy on the "heel of the boot". It's a relatively quiet location but offers everything from great food, excellent shops, nearby beaches, great summer weather and much more. There are larger towns nearby in Lecce and Bari and very good travel links by road, rail and international airports. Most importantly, it is a very affordable location and this includes rental accommodation.
