Description

Principal Project Controller

To manage a team to ensure that there is a consistent approach to planning and controls across their portfolio of projects, working to deliver project reports and analysis in accordance with the business reporting cycle. To provide advice and guidance on all planning and project controls processes across their portfolios as a subject matter expert to all levels.

Key Technical Skills:

  • Extensive working knowledge of project management practices and processes including planning, cost control, earned value management, risk and opportunity management, including schedule risk analysis.
  • The ability to analyse and present data to the management team and be an integral part of the decision making.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Lifecycle Management.
  • PC literate with extensive working knowledge of the MS Office suite and a sound knowledge of planning toolsets.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support 'what if' scenario planning including costs modelling.
  • Attend and actively contribute to project and programme meetings and reviews.
  • Support Schedule and Cost Risk Analysis.
  • Support PC & Planning recruitment process.
  • Support Risk and Opportunity management process.
  • Monitor the performance of the PC process and introduce improvements as required in order to meet the required standard.

Major Tasks and Activities:

  • Facilitate the creation/maintenance of the Project Level 2 Schedule (including input of the WBS/OBS).
  • Being proactive in informing the project and programme leadership teams of issues and progress, providing advice on the best solution.
  • Support management of change process including schedule and cost impacts.
  • Configuration Control of the schedule, including embodiment of agreed Project Changes.
  • Overseeing the production and maintenance of the Planning Assumptions and identification of the Project/Programme Critical Path.
  • Support project resource management process including managing demand vs budget, ensuring consistency and reconciliation across business resourcing tools.
