Proteus Europe is searching for a Lead DevOps Engineer for a 3 month+ contract role based in Central London.

Your New role :-

Purpose of Role:
. Play a key role in re-platforming and PAAS design on Cloud (AWS).
. Provide effective architectural design and implementation of automated infrastructure across cloud and on-premise estates.
. Design and implementation of application build, release, deployment and configuration activities.
. Operational running and management of platform and related infrastructure including on-call duties
. Maximise Stability, Scalability, Performance and Security of Platform.
. Involvement in capacity planning and load testing
. Working closely with Devs, DBAs and other technical teams on automation, deployments, monitoring, patching and other infrastructure tasks
. Consulting and coaching existing infrastructure team members on automation and best practice.
. Champion standardised approaches and tooling for applications throughout Dev community.
. Passion for the change DevOps can bring and the desire to share with others all things Agile and DevOps.

Team Description:

. Overseeing Operational and Support capabilities for core systems
. Evangelising transformation onto automated cloud based infrastructure, reducing existing data centre footprint and operating costs over time
. Responsible for unregulated systems delivering maximum value from their investment for. Support and enhances all the non gaming user facing applications in BAU. Supports supply chain processes including Scratchcard Sales, Distribution, Business Information Management and Contract Centre services.
. Architect cloud processes for new non-gaming or gaming systems, standardising approaches to maximize efficiency of design, deployment and scaling.

Key Accountabilities or Duties:

. Take a leading role in the architecting, planning, installation, integration, operation, optimization and continuous development of our IT-infrastructure
. Administer Linux and container based system landscapes
. Contribute new creative ideas for the further development and enhancement of our operational systems, networks and infrastructure
. Design and Operate networks and platform compliant with our high security requirements, evolving alongside the threat.
. Evangelise the value of Agile working and cross-functional collaboration
. Help create and evolve its devops processes - standardising build, deploy, test, release, SDN and monitoring stacks, processes and frameworks.

Your Skills and experience :-

Essential Skills :-
. Track record of architecting and running Cloud (ideally AWS) platforms at scale.
. Ability to code and script (e.g. Golang, Ruby, Python, Rust, Bash, Java)
. Strong automation skills of open source technologies and tools (e.g. Docker, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, GoCD, Grafana, Chef, shell)
. Experience with systems, networking and operations (OS, Firewalls, Load balancers, DNS)
. Comfortable with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
. A strong focus on business outcomes
. Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
. Strong Operational skills with monitoring and troubleshooting of live clusters
. Experience in design of patching, Software defined networking topologies and deployment frameworks
. Track record of working in Operational Support teams.
. Delivers early and iterates to world class performance
. Adding urgency, energy and results focus to all tasks

Desirable Skills :-
. Familiarity with Cassandra, other NoSQL DB.
. Kafka Kinesis or similar.
