Description

Quality Assurance Engineer required to join team in Bristol for 12 month contract.

Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of Supplier Assurance in support of complex build programmes of a major Defence contract.

Knowledge of the implementation of ISO9001:, ideally supplemented by experience of TickIT/TickITplus.

A working knowledge of Defence Standards and AQAP 2000 Series standards.

Qualifications:

  • HND/Degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Science discipline
  • Professional Quality Assurance qualifications/membership of the Chartered Quality Institute. (Desirable)
  • Trained QMS auditor.

Trained ISO9001 Lead Auditor. (Desirable)

Responsibilities

Major Tasks and Activities:

  • Work with Supply-Chain Management to review tender packs, agree tailoring, verify the cascade of all Quality requirements to the suppliers and evaluate responses.
  • Be pro-active in identifying supplier Quality issues, risks and other information required to plan and implement surveillance and acceptance activities and to support supplier performance improvement.
  • Use defined measures to monitor supplier performance and Quality risk and to report on ongoing supplier capability.
  • Take ownership of the schedule of Project Supplier QA activity.
  • Provide the relevant expertise and use appropriate information, methods and tools, to further develop supplier capability and improve Supply-Chain management processes.
  • Review suppliers' Quality Plans and Software Quality Plans and other CDRL deliverables against contractual requirements and standards.
  • Engage with suppliers on Quality issues arising, management of non-conformity, problem investigation and resolution.
  • Perform planned Quality surveillance audits, witnessing scheduled key stage verification activities, supporting the Delivery Teams at formal acceptance events and manage pre-delivery inspection.
  • Provide professional Quality Assurance and Quality Control advice and guidance.
  • Key Technical Skills:

    • Good base knowledge of supply-chain Quality Assurance and the application of Quality Management standards within an organisation.
    • General knowledge of methods of inspection and test and processes for product acceptance.
    • Application of supplier process and product auditing.
    • Understanding of life cycle management in a systems and software development and programme management environment.
    • A good knowledge of the principles of project Configuration Management and the practical application of Functional and Physical Configuration audits.
    • Understanding of the use of metrics for both product and process measurement.
    • Familiarity with methods and tools for practical problem resolution and prevention.
    • Understanding of Quality risk and the principles of Risk Management.
    • Ability to drive and willingness to travel.
