RAMS (Safety) Engineer

Wiltshire

Up to £500pd DOE (15hrs over 2 days per week)

38 week contract

Corsham/Chippenham/Melksham - occasional trips to London

A new exciting opportunity has come up for an experienced RAM Safety Engineer to work for a well established company in Wiltshire. The ideal candidate will have experience of RAMS, hold a UK Drivers Licence and either be SC Cleared or eligible for an SC Clearance.

Daily Duties:

Working on behalf of the rail team into client by doing the following:

  • Update existing RAM Demonstration Plan
  • Update existing RCIL (Reliability Critical Items List)
  • Complete derivation of RAM requirements
  • Produce RAM Requirements V&V (Verification & Validation)
  • report
  • Update existing RAM assessment analysis and report
  • Update existing RAM Demonstration case report
  • Quarterly status reporting
  • Support to the creation of test plans, test reports and DRACAS
  • process, creation of O&M manuals and spares list

Experience required:

  • Experience of RAMs. (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability)
  • Experience of RAM in the installation and testing phase of a project
  • Rail signalling
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in the UK Rail
  • Industry in a safety-related role

Qualifications:

  • University educated with a degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent

Skills requires:

  • Common Safety Method (CSM) for Risk Assessments
  • EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129 (including use of SILs)
  • IEC 61508
  • Hazard Identification (HAZID) and hazard log management
  • Preparation of some or all of: Generic Product Safety Cases (GPSC), Generic Application Safety Cases (GASC) and Specific Application Safety Cases (SASC)
  • Knowledge of Cross Acceptance principles
  • Familiarity with Railway Group Standards and London Underground Standards
  • Familiarity with railway signalling principles and technology, including computer based interlocking's
  • Familiarity with Engineering Safety Management (previously Yellow Book) essential principles
  • Knowledge of some or all of the following: signalling, control, rail operations, infrastructure, electrification, software, human factors, and rolling stock related projects
  • Full UK Drivers Licence
  • SC Cleared or eligible for SC Clearance ie have lived in the UK for the last 5 years, good credit history, clean criminal record etc.
