Infrastructure Architect

12 Month Contract

Dublin City Centre

Be an implementer of virtualisation and cloud services, leading technical definition, security assurance and cost optimisation derived from virtualisation technologies and cloud services:

Build and maintain advisory/partnership relationships with senior public service personnel within client IT organisations.

Design and deliver cloud solutions, both implementing private clouds and exploiting the potential of existing cloud computing and other related technologies.

Support the delivery of business cases, and the design of solution architectures, and multi-phased, complex migration programmes that address technology, people/organisation, and process change.

Transfer the solution in an incremental way to a business as usual support team to allow the project delivery team to concentrate on subsequent migration of customers.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-impact transformation programs through the use of Cloud Computing and other related technologies.
  • Design technical solution architectures and develop migration roadmaps for private, public, and hybrid cloud, involving leading virtualization technologies.
  • Design and implement hybrid cloud solutions including service management and orchestration technologies.
  • Provide strong technical knowledge of cloud technologies including System Centre(Service Manager, Operations Manager, Orchestrator, DPM), Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V, Cisco and HP Networking, Backup technology(Symantec NetBackup, Commvault etc.), SAN(Dell, EMC etc.), Tape libraries, Fabric Switches, Cloud(Azure, AWS), Web Filters, Email Filters and Firewalls.
  • Support client engagements as part of a senior management team of strategists and analysts.
  • Engage in early life cycle architecture and business process evaluations, for qualification and support of Government cloud services.
  • Manage complex change programs involving client, Government cloud and other vendor personnel.
  • Maintain a client-facing technical leadership presence, actively contributing to the client dialogue about virtualization and cloud services.
  • Provide training documentation for IT staff for operation of solutions after implementation.
  • Leading certifications in core and advanced virtualization technologies and vendor programs, such as MCA, VCAP/VCDX, CCNE, CCIA, or equivalents.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years' experience in direct solution design and implementation experience with Microsoft and/or VMware required; experience in Microsoft environments preferred.
  • Demonstrable technical skills and experience designing and implementing IT infrastructure solutions, involving virtualization and cloud technologies.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure and cloud technologies including System Centre (Service Manager, Operations Manager, Orchestrator, DPM), Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V, Cisco and HP Networking, Backup technology (NetBackup, Commvault), SAN (Dell, EMC etc.), Tape libraries, Deduplication appliances, Fabric Switches, Cloud (Azure, AWS), Web filtering, Email Filtering, Firewalls is required.
  • IT Security knowledge - knowledge of best practice approaches to prevent, detect, document and counter threats to digital information
  • Strong Analytical and Troubleshooting Skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of ITIL -working knowledge of relevant ITIL processes

Strong oral and written communication skills in English

Essential experience

A minimum of 5 years' experience working with cloud architectures including SaaS, PaaS and IaaS.
