I am currently recruiting for 2x Linux System Engineers to work for a client of mine who are a public sector government organisation based in Belgium.Daily tasks
A typical working day would include the following tasks for our Linux system engineer:
- Red Hat and Suse automated OS deployment
- Writing scripts that support automated OS configuration, deployment and performance management
- Managing and update our repository used for managing our OS baseline (RPM) and configuration files
- Enhancing our monitoring environment (Nagios)
- Case follow-up with underpinning contracts (Red Hat, Suse, HP)
- Enforcing our shared and customer syslog server setups to support on security regulations
- Unroll and maintain leading edge Red Hat technologies like OpenShift and GlusterFS
We are currently focusing a lot on automation and aligning the different Linux environments. For this we're already using custom tooling. Knowledge of one of these tools/script languages is a must to maintain and improve this environment:
Must have technical skills:
- OS: Linux RedHat including Redhat clustering, Suse Linux Enterprise Server (SLES)
- Networking: A thorough knowledge of general networking basics (routing, subnets, NAT )
- Apps: Apache, FTP
- Scripting: bash
- Tooling: Nagios, Puppet
- OS: Solaris, HPUX
- Apps: MySQL, PHP, Tomcat
- Scripting: Perl, Python, Awk, Java, C Sharp (C#)
- Tooling: Cacti, Ansible, Prometheus, Thruk, Gitlab, Jenkins, JIRA
- English (mandatory write/speak)
- Dutch and/or French (is a bonus)
- We're looking for a team player who has no direct intentions to take a managing lead position.
- A Linux expert with a strong focus on technology.
Length: 3 months with a possibility of extension
