Description of work:
Task 1: Define the global cloud strategy of the client's DRI
- Advise the client in choosing one (or several) cloud provider(s) for virtual machines (VMs) hosting.
- Advise the client in choosing one (or several) cloud provider(s) for backup hosting.
- The strategy must take into account the budget planned for the cloud infrastructure.
- Opportunity to propose any interesting tools as the planning is currently in an early stage.
Task 2: System installation, configuration and maintenance
- Create and deploy VMs (mainly based on CentOS/Ubuntu) according to business requirements.
- Maintain those VMs (updates, security...)
- Implementation of a management system to run cloud deployments: Put in place the tools needed to ease the creation and management of the VMs.
- Maintain the actual pool of VMs hosted internally at the university (around 40 VMs).
Task 3: Software installation, configuration and maintenance
- Installation and configuration of software on the Servers (Eg. Apache, MySQL, Wordpress, Drupal...)
- Specific research oriented software will be managed by the researchers themselves.
- Maintenance of software (updates, security...)
- Experience in installing and maintaining computing/storage clusters (eg NEO4J Enterprise server).
Task 4: Monitor system and software performance and resources
- A monitoring solution must be put in place in order to to review the status of the different components (health check but also display of the current version of different services/components, alerts for critical updates).
Task 5: Backup and recovery management
- Put in place a backup strategy for the systems (OSes and applications).
- Storage of encrypted backups on external cloud infrastructure.
Task 6: Security
- Put in place any needed tools/procedures to ensure the security of the global infrastructure.
Task 7: Documentation
- All technical information and procedures must be documented.
