System Engineer - Virtualization & Storage (VMware vSphere) (m/f)

Description

• Managing of the environments for software defined storage (Ceph, VMware VSAN) and virtualization (Redhat Enterprise virtualization, Oracle Virtualization Management, VMware vSphere)
• Management and configuration of converged systems for virtualization (Oracle PCA / Dell vxRail)
• Patch management of managed environments
• Capacity management of virtualization environments
• Lifecycle management of hypervisors and storage software
• Providing hardware, network and tools for managed environments
• Integration of virtualization and software defined storage into operation environment
• Performance tuning bearing in mind virtualization and storage definitions
• 3rd level support for incidents and problems
• Escalating SW problems to SW/HW vendors and external service providers
• Managing licenses for Virtualization and Storage
• Optimization of virtualization environment in consideration of licenses costs
• Evaluating new technologies for improving virtualization and storage infrastructure services with respect to feasibility and costs
• Developing business cases for management presentations

• Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or comparable professional experience in IT and financial industry
• Practical working experience in software defined storage (Ceph, VMware VSAN) or comparable project experience as an IT consultant in IT service management (ITSM)
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies (Redhat Enterprise virtualization (RHV), Oracle Virtualization Management, VMware vSphere) and nearshoring projects
• Deep know-how of ITIL processes, procedures and tasks
• Know-how about Oracle PCA or Dell vxRail is an advantage
• Knowledge in administration of physical and virtual Linux servers
• Fluency in English is a must-have criteria (German skills not required)
• Handling tasks in a motivated and flexible fashion
• Ability to work independently, reliably
• Good communication skills and intercultural competence
