Storage Specialist

Initial 12 Month Contract

Dublin 2

Commencing 1st of Feb. 2018

Level Required: Intermediate 4-6 years' experience

Main elements of the role will include:

  • Maintain the CommVault environment ensuring effective backups are run and making performance improvements where necessary.
  • Rapidly develop solutions to problems as required, to include timely restoration of data.
  • Monitor and respond to helpdesk calls.
  • Carry out Level 3 helpdesk tasks as required
  • Liaise with other technical authorities in both Departments to provide an integrated approach to their technologies.
  • Provide skills transfer to staff through regular review meetings and coaching.
  • Be able to work in all aspects of a project life cycle from business analysis to implementation and testing.
  • Provide accurate documentation as required.
  • Work mainly on their own initiative

CommVault Elements of role

  • ComVault Administration
  • Maintains and monitors tape libraries.
  • Performs backup environment system tuning including monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing performance.
  • Oversee security of CommVault environment.
  • Performs daily routine maintenance,
  • Perform storage pool maintenance, and on-site and off-site tape management
  • Assists in determining workload balancing if necessary.
  • Proactively oversees resolution of backup/recovery service disruptions and implementation of preventative measures.
  • Analyzes and solves complex problems
  • Performs continuous research and audits to ensure continuous and high levels of performance, security and availability of network and operating systems and peripheral devices.
  • Remains up-to-date with the latest innovations and industry best practices

Storage (3PAR) Elements of role

Perform provisioning, management and monitoring of storage (3PAR)

Other elements of role

  • Perform routine tasks using VMWare vSphere
  • Ensures regular reporting to management regarding performance and service levels in order to inform responsible management about major deviations and/or corrective actions.
  • Provides guidance and advice to other team members
  • Maintains close relations with local management staff to ensure the local business processes are continuously and adequately being supported and developed by IT.
  • Assist other team members with basic infrastructure support tasks
  • Liaise with other technical authorities to provide an integrated approach to their technologies.
    • Report to the management/staff, including the IMT team lead as required and attend meetings at sites as requested.
    • A function of this role will involve working with members of other IT Support teams to provide day-to-day administration of the strategic projects and the formulation of standards/procedures associated with this work. There may also be a requirement to liaise with other teams in the central areas in resolving issues relating to infrastructure. The areas of responsibility associated with the Other Support Teams includes:
    • Support, maintain and build the technical infrastructure for the IT infrastructure.
    • Maximise availability of IT services to all users
    • Improve IT Infrastructure in line with emerging technologies.
    • Maintain and deliver high quality stable and secure infrastructure support and core business.

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of a CommVault Certified Professional certification.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of a MSCE certification (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer).
